MADISON, N.J., September 23, 2017 – After a strong defensive showing in its first-ever game and win last week, the Monroe College women's rugby team produced a terrific all-around performance on Saturday, taking down Drew University by a score of 75-7.
A number of different Mustangs scored in an impressive outing on Saturday. Rookie fly half
Neyri Meregildo, on her birthday, scored four tries in Saturday's big win. Captain
Brenda Doctor executed three tried, while
Susai Wise scored twice and added three conversions. Angela Faison and
Breasia Richards also scored a pair of tries each. Ingrid Da Silvia was also good on a pair of conversions.
Monroe hits the road again on Saturday, Sept. 30, to take on Montclair State University in Montclair, N.J.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, will have six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning in the fall of 2017.
