Karim Belmahdi won the 1500m NJCAA National Championship to highlight an outstanding weekend at the 2023 NJCAA Div. I Outdoor Track & Field Championships. After placing seventh in the preliminary round of the 1500m on Friday, Belmahdi cut 10 seconds off his time (3:47.31) to win the finals on Saturday to claim the National Championship in the event, and set a new Monroe College record for the race as well. His National Championship marks the first individual outdoor title in Monroe College history. Belmahdi also earned a podium finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking in at 9:45.12 to take eighth place overall. In addition, Belmahdi was part of the 4x800 relay team that placed second overall with a Monroe College record time of 7:36.19.
