Carlos Peguero tossed a gem in his first start of the season this past Sunday against USC Sumter. Peguero went the complete seven innings in the game, striking out eight batters while allowing just two hits and no runs to lead the Mustangs to a 1-0 shutout victory over the Fire Ants. Peguero went 5.2 no-hit frames before the Fire Ants were finally able to pick up a hit against him. Serving mostly as Monroe's closer before Sunday's win, Peguero has been rock solid this season, posting a 0.00 ERA in 9.1 innings.
