Shelton Applewhite Jr. had a perfect evening against Post University on Saturday, leading the 15th-ranked Mustangs to a 56-15 victory on the road. He completed all of his 13 pass attempts for a total of 286 yards and four touchdowns. Applewhite had two long touchdowns of 56 and 49 yards, each to Idrissa Nikiema, and then hit Halim Dixon-King for two more scores from 17 and 23 yards out. Applewhite is the first Monroe College quarterback to complete 100 percent of his passes in a game in program history, and also set the single-game record for yards per pass attempt (22.0). Applewhite ranks fourth in the NJCAA with 274.4 passing yards per game, and is far and away the NJCAA leader with a 233.2 quarterback efficiency rating.
